Business Model

eXo Platform SAS, the company behing the Open Source project, needs revenues to provide you such an innovative stack.

To do so we sale product subscriptions, expert services and OEM licenses

Subscriptions

The subscription offer is targeted at users who require a high level of service and quality. Typically, people that will need to deploy eXo in production. Those users consider stability, support and documentation.

Hence, the subscriptions comes with:

  • certified binaries
  • QA (tests and benchmarks)
  • documentation user / admin
  • End User Licence Agreement (EULA) to avoid the viral effect of the AGPL v 3
  • indemnification
  • Professional support up to 24/7
Every 3 to 4 months, we fork the source code to stabilize it and provide bug fixes in minor releases. For example, you will be able to find products like Portal 2.x or ECM 2.x on OW2 but only eXo subscription customers will get the stabilized versions such as Portal 2.2.1 or ECM 2.1.1 and so on.

Our Q&A team tests the subscription versions extensively to stabilize them. Developers commit fixes into two different branches (subscription and trunk).

In the subscription offering we support the following application servers:

  • Tomcat,
  • JOnAS,
  • JBoss,
  • Websphere,
  • Weblogic,
  • Oracle AS
Our Q&A team can also test some others AS on demand to support them.
